X-energy is an American advanced nuclear reactor and fuel company headquartered in Rockville, Maryland, and founded in 2009 by Kam Ghaffarian. It is developing the Xe-100, a pebble-bed, helium-cooled high-temperature gas reactor, along with its own TRISO-X fuel. In October 2020 it was selected for the DOE's Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program, and it has partnered with Amazon and American Electric Power on an SMR project in Indiana.
X-energy develops Generation IV high-temperature gas-cooled reactors and fuel to supply clean electricity and high-temperature steam for heavy industry and energy-intensive technology.
